Tahltan Outfitters was founded in 1964 by the legendary Fletcher Day when the hunting areas were formed in British Columbia. Jim Peterson started working as a guide for Fletcher Day in 2003, they built a lasting friendship and when Fletcher decided it was time to retire in 2007 he sold the area to Jim.
Tahltan Outfitters is a small family run operation located in the remote pristine mountains of northern British Columbia. The area is only accessible by float plane, or a week long horseback ride. With the northernmost boundaries extending towards the Yukon border our area has the size influence of the Alaskan Moose along with our giant Canadian Moose.
The remote location of the hunting area combined with the skilled guides and horses are an exceptional talented team bringing together “old style” hunts season after season. Due to the remoteness of the camps there are only generators to provide power. The only form of communication is via satellite phone for emergency purposes.
Tahltan Outfitters only accepts a limited number of hunters each year to ensure that top quality animals are harvested each season. The remote location of the hunting area guarantees that there is very little to no pressure from resident hunters. This combined with the conservation and preservation of the high quality animals roaming through the area of Tahltan Outfitters allows every one of their clients to have a highly successful, personalized once in a lifetime hunting experience.
